Advert

I uploaded a copy of our magazine advert onto facebook in order to gain feedback from people that fit our target audience, here are some examples of the feedback given:

We can see from this feedback that audience members feel that the advert reflects the themes explored in the music, such as feeling lost and loneliness. The use of mise en scene and location was noted upon to contribute successfully towards these deeper meanings. The font was described as clear and easy to understand, as well as establishing a carnival like theme. Audience members were also able to link the advert to the digipak and made a connection between the media products, meaning that an identity was successfully established. Finally audience members commented on the information included, stating that all information they could require was included, therefore appealing to them.

Digipak

Included are some print screens of feedback given by target audience members on facebook:

Regardless of any informalities we can see from this feedback that audience members feel that our digipak meets the expectations of the Indie/Alternative genre -it is artistic and the band members are made a focal point. The continual motif of the sparrows was also successful with audience members as they felt it linked the different panels together well and established a theme that included images and styles that they would associate with and believed to be typical of the Indie genre.

Initially we had worries that our chosen font, although bold and relatively simplistic much like other digipaks of male indie artists our research showed, would not be clear when placed against the background image of our digipak. Feedback shows that the font is bold, clear and understandable and that it in fact 'draws audiences attention to it'.

Final Edit With Performance

This is the final edit of our video with performance involved.

I uploaded the final edit with performance onto Facebook, asking audiences to give appropriate feedback on how well they feel the video was executed and any other comments they feel relevant.

This is the feedback given by audiences:

From these comments we can see that audiences reacted positively to the video and felt it was well executed. One audience member makes note of a glitch in the sound editing which was corrected immediately. When posting the video I suggested questions that audience members may feel more comfortable answering, than just leaving feedback. One decided to answer the questions and revealed to us that they felt the concept and story were easy to understand, the performance with the band was of great contribution to the final product -transforming it from a short film to a music video.

First Edit With Performance

After referring to research we decided that our original aim to subvert indie conventions of total artist focus completely by not including performance within our video would not be successful and beneficial. We therefore organised and planned to film a performance scene with actors and include it in our video. Below is the first edit of the video with the band included.

In order to gain audience feedback on whether they feel that the inclusion of band performance in our music video worked well and if it was well constructed and executed or not, I posted a link to the video on Facebook, asking audiences to leave their comments and opinions on the changes made.

Although many audience members did not leave comments that specified their feelings on the changes made to the video, this comment expresses an audience opinion I feel is appropriate as they have understood that our aim was to recreate a video that was typical of the genre in certain aspects. Other comments similar feelings that the inclusion of performance was successful, though in ways too informal to print screen.

First Edit

This is the first rough edit of our music video, I wanted to gain audience feedback to understand whether, so far, it met audience requirements and expectations, whether they enjoyed the video and any other comments on what they feel works well and what doesn't:

Here is a selection of the feedback and comments left by audience members:

by using Facebook I was able to contact our teenage target audience in a way with which they would feel comfortable and therefore feel more inclined to leave honest feedback as they would feel more comfortable. By 'liking' the post of the video audiences are expressing their attraction and positive feelings towards the product.

Audience members expressed feelings that the footage needs to be more in time with the music, meaning that they expect a correlation between music and visuals from a music video. It was important for us to take this on board as our music had definite and significant moments whereby footage would be better suited to mirror the rhythm of the music.
